Have a question for your groomer? Here are the most commonly asked questions we answer:

How do you determine your prices?

There are a lot of things that factor into making sure our prices are fair and reasonable. To learn more about our pricing strategy, check out our post about this topic here.

Do you have any hidden fees or extra charges?

There are no hidden fees or extra charges once you have received your price at the time of the groom.

When your pet is checked in for their appointment, your groomer will confirm the specifics of your groom, such as the desired length of hair and face shape, as well as any requested shampoo treatments or extra services. We ask that you disclose any known behavioral or medical issues at this time, as well as any matting or areas of concern for your pet. Your groomer will then confirm the price of your groom, to be paid at the end of the appointment.

Does your shop have breed or size restrictions?

We have a custom-built tub for your larger pets that allows them to step directly into the tub and can hold up to 400lbs, ensuring your pets are safe and comfortable while being bathed. This allows us to take even very large pets that other shops cannot accommodate.

How often should I bring my pet in to be groomed?

In general, bringing your pet in every two to eight weeks helps reduce dandruff and shedding, which typically causes allergies, as well as reducing the chances of your pet’s coat matting. We recommend bringing your pets in as frequently as possible because it helps your pet establish a routine and a relationship with their groomer, which can help them be less stressed or nervous about their groom and creates a healthier and easier experience for your pet.

How long should I expect my appointment to be?

Your groomer will give you an expected time frame when you drop off your pet. Our schedule is set up so that each groomer is working on only your pet during your appointment time so that we can ensure your pet receives the quality care they deserve. However, there are times when other groomers might need assistance with pets who are having difficulty behaving. Additionally, matting, biting, and other difficult behaviors can extend the time required to groom your pet. We do our best to let you know when issues arise or time frames need to be extended and ask that you have patience with our groomers who are doing their best to treat every animal that walks through our doors with care and patience no matter their behaviors or special needs.

What kind of products do you use?

At Cute Cuts For Mutts we only use high-quality, all natural and local products!

Since different dogs have different types of hair, just like people do, our groomers are trained on our wide variety of products so they can use what’s best for your pet’s hair, skin, and medical needs.

Do you have a soap for my pet who’s allergic to everything?

Yes, we do! All our products are high quality, all natural and tested personally by our groomers to ensure no adverse reactions occur. Of course, our hypo-allergenic and soap-free shampoos are also available by request to keep your pets smelling great and feeling clean and itch-free.

Your groomer will confirm the products being used for your pets groom before it begins, which gives you the opportunity to let them know if your pet has any specific needs such as a hypo-allergenic or soap free shampoo. All our groomers are trained on our wide variety of products so they can offer suggestions if needed and ensure they use what’s best for your pet’s hair, skin, and medical needs.

Are you a cage free groom shop?

No. We provide clean and comfortable kennels to ensure the safety of every pet that we groom. Our kennels help us separate nervous and aggressive animals, and gives your pet a safe and quiet refuge that can help keep them calm and provide a stress free experience.

Will you use a cage dryer? Is it safe for my pet?

A lot of pets can and will be hand dried by their groomer, but using a cage dryer is safer and more comfortable for some pets. If your pet is overly anxious or nervous during their groom, putting them in a cage dryer can help them calm down before their grooming session and make the entire experience less stressful.

Older dogs, puppies and heavily coated dogs may need this type of dryer to ensure they are fully dried safely. Our cage dryers don’t use heat, so there is no concern of your pet getting overheated and not being able to breathe. Some pets cannot be dried safely without some type of dryer cage and the choice to do this does not make your groomer a bad groomer, it makes them SMART, taking your pet’s safety into account. Rest assured that your pets are always properly monitored while in the kennel.

Can you do specialty/artistic grooms?

Yes! Our owner is extensively trained in multiple grooming styles, including show grooms, Asian inspired, and specialty grooms. We also offer custom dog safe hair dyes, color designs & nail painting for an extra cost.

And as always, feel free to bring in pictures to show your groomer examples of the haircut you’d like your pet to receive!

Do you take walk ins or offer same day appointments?

Unfortunately, at this time our groomers are often booked up to two weeks in advance, so we are unable to offer same day appointments or take walk-in clients looking for a bath and/or haircut for their pets. We do accept walk-in nail trims!

We do occasionally have last-minute openings or cancelations. This means same day appointments are sometimes available for those who call early, but rest assured if not we will do our best to accommodate your pet’s groom as soon as possible.

Will you groom my pet that has issues with grooming?

Our groomers are trained to handle difficult grooms, vet recommended pets, pets with medical injuries, separation anxiety, and anger management issues as well as grooms other groom shops will not do. We simply ask that you inform your groomer of any issues your pets may have before the groom.

Can you groom my pets together?

If you know your pets are nervous, need to stay together or simply do better when accompanied by their sibling(s), we can accommodate that! We have a custom-built tub that allows us to give multiple pets a bath at the same time, and we can kennel them together at your request.

Will grooming my cat help my allergies?

Giving your cat a bath can help reduce dandruff, which is the typical cause of allergens. It also helps keep the undercoat clean, and reduces shedding! There are steps you can take at home to help reduce shedding, and you can also bring your cat in for a bath or groom. Rest assured that we take care of our feline friends with the same great services as the rest of your pets. We offer fantastic de-shed options and have conditioning products that are used without water to help your cat’s coats stay moisturized, soft, and smelling fresh!
